Great price and great hotel!!! When we walked in the place smelled great. The staff was so nice and helpful. We were amazed at how large the rooms were and pleasantly surprised that there was a full kitchen for no extra cost. They have a huge outdoor patio with BBQ's and if we would have stayed longer we would have taken full advantage of that. The rooms were clean and quiet and the beds were so comfortable. We slept great every night. The breakfast was almost gone by the time we got down there at 9:30 even though they advertise that they stop serving at 10, so get down there early. Overall we were so pleased and will definitely stay here again.
I was participating in the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships in Milwaukee on August 10, 2013. After looking at the lodging choices, I settled on MainStay Suites because it was relatively inexpensive, only 11 min from the race site, and I also like a suite-type room which has a small kitchen that I could use if I wanted to prepare my own food. Plus, the room sounded like a small efficiency apartment from the description. And I was quite pleased with my room! It had all the amenities of home: small kitchen with dishware, washware, utensils, full stove, microwave, full-size refrigerator, small bar-like eating area that doubled as an office area, couch with coffee table, several drawers for putting away clothes and other items, small safe (extra I believe if used which I didn't), queen-size bed, flat-screen TV w/cable, free internet both wireless and ethernet cable (which I used quite a lot!), and a fairly large/clean bathroom. I found the desk clerks and staff to be quite pleasant and took the time to answer any questions I had with regards to places to eat and the surrounding area. Breakfast is provided and there's a nice sit-down area for guests, inside and outside. There's fresh water and fruit available sometimes during the day/evening and I did see that there's a limited dinner one evening I believe, but I had not arrived in time for that. Saw cookies out the one evening too. There is no pool but there is a small exercise room. For folks with dogs, there's a pet exercise area out back. Good security and parking. My room was clean. As described by others, they don't clean the room every day but (if I recall correctly) every 3 days and that may be a light cleaning. You could request more if needed. I think a full cleaning was weekly as indicated by other reviewers but I didn't stay that long. The only detractor I had was that for some reason, the floor of the room above me creaked a fair amount. And so I got to hear a LOT of walking around late the first night from that room. Actually woke me up for a bit. Also a good number of families use these types of rooms for similar reasons. So, there may be a bit of noise here and there from small children. Still, for those returning to the USAT AG National Championships in 2014, I'd recommend you consider this hotel if you want to save a bit, have many of the amenities of home, and still be fairly close to the race site. Let me just add two places to go: St Francis Brewery on Howard and Kopp's Frozen Custard. Two-thumbs up for both and great recovery food places for those who race!
I like your idea of cleaning the rooms once a week. Also, the homemade oatmeal was wonderful! The service was excellent. Thank you for a wonderful stay. P.S. Sorry I left muy oranges, apples, yogurt and poppy seed muffins in the fridge.
We enjoyed our stay at MainStay in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. I have several positive comments about this hotel. First, you can't beat the price for the type of room you get. The room has a small kitchen with a full size refrigerator, a 2 burner stove, microwave, and coffee maker. Next to the kitchenette is a lounging area, which in our case had a double bed. A separate bedroom had a queen size bed. There was plenty of room for us. Second, the room was very clean and fresh.. The bathroom was roomy as well, with a tub and shower. Third, the staff were very pleasant and accommodating - they had out lemonade and other goodies all the time which made us feel comfortable. In fact, when we arrived on a Wednesday evening, they had free pizza and soft drinks! Nice touch. Fourth, the wireless Internet access was flawless. It worked all the time. Fifth, the location is very convenient - with a 5 minute drive to the Milwaukee Airport, and about 15-20 minutes to Downtown- all with easy access via highway. One thing to be aware of for this hotel, is that towels and cleaning is not done everyday - and they tell you this up front. If you need clean towels, you need to get them. But, considering the service, cleanliness, and price, asking for towels is worth it. Oh- there is no swimming pool if that's important to you, but there is a backyard patio with gas and charcoal grills if you want to cook out.
This hotel was very clean and well maintained. The staff were all very nice and helpful. It was catered to guests. Was also in the perfect location for what we wanted. I would definitely stay there again and I highly recommend it to others.
Hi, My name is Tony Jackson. I recently stayed at Main Stay Oak Creek at 1001 W College Ave in WI. At the time of checking in I told the reseptionist that I would be there for atleast 1 week. I was there for 7 nights. Upon leaving (at 5 am) to catch my flight, I left my room keys in the room on the table...as I have done at several hotels in the past. I received my credit card bill on line on 6-5-2013 and was charged for 429.12 for the week that I was there. Also there were three different charges that totaled 321.00 for the following week that no one was present. I then called the hotel and was told that I would be receiving a call from the district manager. That has not happened yet. I have disputed the charges. If you use your credit card at any hotel...make sure you receive a copy of your charges and please check your bill. Regards, Tony Jackson
Just have to say what a pleasure it was to be at the Mainstay Suites in Oak Creek, WI. The staff there was extremely cordial and may the stay a pleasure. The continental breakfast is complete with a variety of good things to eat. The Wednesday night manager's treat was simple, yet delicious. Room was spacious with all the comforts of home. A definite return stay, especially if the time is extended. Great rates, too!
We've stayed here several times over the years, and have had friends and family stay here when we were living in Milwaukee. We've always had a pleasant experience. The staff is probably the most helpful of any hotel we've ever stayed at. They go out of their way to make sure all your needs are taken care of. The rooms are always clean, the hotel is always quiet, the free breakfast is adequate, and the price is reasonable. If you are traveling on a budget, this is the place to stay.
I've lost track how many nights I've stayed here. Probably over 100 over the years. They are ALWAYS so accomodating. Is it the Taj Mahal? Of course not. But it is perfect for those who are budget conscious without wanting to stay in a dive. When I've needed an early check-in. No problem. A late check-out? All I have to do is ask. I've paid $10 before on breakfasts that weren't as good as the Mainstay Suites. I've saved big dollars by buying my own food and utilizing the kitchens and full-sized fridge. Need transportation to the airport and back? That's available. Extended parking? They help in that area too. They've recently updated many of the rooms to HD televisions. That's a nice touch. On Wednesday nights, they provide dinner. Either subs or pizza and drinks; just their way of saying "thanks." That's a very generous perk. The provide pizza ovens and the back patio has a grill too. My wish list? The couches are rollaway beds too. That makes them functional but at times uncomfortable after couch potato-ing awhile. Oh and the keys that go into the slot to allow access from the northwest and northeast doors? They never seem to work. I don't bother and just walk through the front. The once per week housekeeping? I'm so used to it, I don't even notice. It teaches you to be less of a slob. Not a big deal. If you're a prima donna who needs more, then you probably need to book the fancy schmancy places at $250 a night. Thanks Annette for always being so friendly and helpful. Customer for about 10 yrs and counting.
Should have read the reviews which said to ask for a suite as I got a studio. That's one problem with the Choice awards program...you do have to beg for an upgrade whereas most programs will just offer it when available. (And it was evident that they were not full). The studio is very cramped. Clean...but cramped. The queen bed is way oversized for the space. And the shape of the room doesn't allow a good airflow with the one AC unit. Overall the stay was OK...maybe the suite would have been great. I do agree it is clean and the room is well equipped if you’re there for a few days stay. TV line up was pretty good, internet had good speed. They have a few pantry items but you’re close to a couple of convenience stores anyway. Being just a few minutes to the airport this is the bright spot to the property.
